Polypropylene is one of the commonly used plastic raw materials. As a general-purpose plastic, polypropylene has a wide range of applications. LFT-G company, just like our logo, we use the impregnation production process to combine long carbon fibers with polypropylene, and the composite material of polypropylene has high rigidity.
Generally, the carbon fiber content of PP LCF materials is between 20% and 60%. If it is too low, the internal fibers will be dispersed due to the related problems of resin density and fiber density, and the dispersed fibers cannot achieve the effect of enhancing the tensile force, so the mechanical properties will decrease. If the carbon fiber content is too high, the resin cannot completely wrap the fibers, which will easily lead to floating fibers, thus affecting the appearance. The commonly used carbon fiber content depends on the style and requirements of the finished product. For those with higher mechanical requirements, it is recommended to use 40% or 50% carbon fiber content. The requirements are not so high, and the gate is limited or relatively small. It is recommended to use 20% or 30%, depending on the specific use.
Our American customer used PP LCF50% material to make the front-end module of the car engine compartment. Compared with the ordinary front-end module, the material using PP LCF50 has higher impact resistance and wear resistance, and can reduce the car's overall quality. For the ever-popular topic of lightweighting, long carbon fibers are an integral part.
