PA66, abbreviation of English Polyamide 66, chemical name polyadiptyl adiptyl diamine, commonly known as nylon 66. Is a colorless transparent semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer, widely used in automobiles, electronic appliances, mechanical instruments, industrial parts and other industries. However, due to the large absorbency of nylon itself, poor acid resistance, low impact strength of dry state and low temperature, and easy deformation after water absorption, the dimensional stability of the product is affected, so that its application range is limited to some extent. In order to improve the above shortcomings, expand its application field, and better meet the requirements of performance, people adopt a variety of methods to modify PA66 plastic.
So as to improve the impact property, thermal deformation property, forming processing property and chemical corrosion resistance. Because the specific strength and Young's modulus of glass fiber (GF) are 10~20 times larger than that of PA66, the linear expansion coefficient is about 1/20 of that of PA66, the water absorption is close to zero, and it has good heat and chemical resistance, glass fiber filling is the most commonly used enhancement modification method of PA66.

Compared with pure PA66, the mechanical strength, rigidity, heat resistance, creep resistance and fatigue resistance of glass fiber reinforced PA66 are greatly improved, while the elongation, molding shrinkage and hygroscopic property are decreased.
Application
Compared with pure PA66, the mechanical properties of PA66+GF are greatly improved, which makes PA66+GF more widely used in the automobile industry, such as cylinder head cover, engine seat and total cover, door handles, lock systems, wheel decoration, car lock handle, ashtray, switch, etc.
The thermal deformation temperature is increased from 70℃ to more than 220℃, and the aging resistance is significantly improved. It can be safely used in automotive, machinery, chemical and other fields to manufacture heat-resistant structural parts, such as automotive pressure regulator, air intake manifold, throttle valve radiator groove, fan blade guard and other parts.
Glass fiber filled PA66 mold shrinkage from the original 1.5%~1.8% to 0.2%~0.3%, making nylon 66 products flat without warping, size is more stable, widely used in gear, coil skeleton and other precision parts.
Way to distinguish PA6 and PA66
Both PA6 and PA66 burn with the smell of burnt wool and nails, PA6 with a light yellow flame and PA66 with a blue flame. PA6 is more ductile, less expensive than PA66 and has a lower melting point (225 degrees). PA66 has good strength, wear resistance and high melting point (255 degrees).
The melting point of PA66 is 260~265℃, and the glass transition temperature (dry state) is 50℃. The density is 1.13~1.16 g/cc. PA6 translucent or opaque opalescent crystalline polymer particles, melting point 220℃, thermal decomposition temperature greater than 310℃, relative density 1.14, water absorption rate (24 hours in 23℃ water) 1.8%, has excellent wear resistance and self-lubrication, high mechanical strength, heat resistance, electrical insulation performance, low temperature performance, self-quenching and chemical resistance. Especially good oil resistance. Compared with PA66, PA6 has the advantages of easy processing and molding, good surface gloss and wide temperature range, but higher water absorption and poor dimensional stability. Small rigidity, low melting point, can be used in harsh environment for a long time, in a wide range of temperature can still maintain enough stress, continuous use of temperature 105℃.
