TPU, full name Thermoplastic Polyurethanes, is a thermoplastic polyurethane rubber which is combined by the hard chain segments of ammonia ester reacting with isocyanate and the soft chain segments of polyester or polyether with each other in a block, there is no or very little cross-linking on the chemical structure, and the molecule is basically linear, but there exists a certain amount of physical cross-linking, and there is a main polyester-type and polyether-type points.
The advantages of TPU plastic
(1) excellent abrasion resistance: its Taber abrasion value is 0.35-0.5mg, which is the smallest among plastics;
(2) Tensile strength and elongation: TPU's tensile strength is 2-3 times that of natural and synthetic rubber;
(3) Oil resistance: TPU's oil resistance is superior to that of nitrile rubber, with excellent oil resistance life;
(4) low temperature resistance, weather resistance, ozone resistance, TPU's weather aging resistance is better than natural rubber and other synthetic rubber, its ozone resistance, ray resistance has a special use in the aerospace industry;
(5) food medical health: TPU has biocompatibility and anticoagulant properties, medical TPU applications are becoming more and more widespread, such as blood vessels, ureters, infusion tubes. At the same time TPU does not contain enhancers, non-toxic and odorless, also widely used in the food industry;
(6) Hardness range: the hardness of TPU is 60A-95A, and it still maintains elasticity when the hardness is above 85A, which is a characteristic that other elastomers do not have, so TPU has a high load-supporting capacity and good suction and drainage effect.
The applications of TPU plastic
TPU has high strength, high abrasion resistance, high elasticity, aging resistance, oil resistance and other characteristics, in a wide range of automotive parts and components applications, such as for shift lever handle, a variety of coupling bushings and gaskets, a variety of wiring harnesses, connectors, spiral retractable wires, cable sheaths, toothed belt, steering tie rods, sheaths and gaskets, suspension joint hinges, hydraulics, suspension diaphragm, vibration isolation diaphragm, vibration absorbers, spring limiting fast etc. Because of the excellent performance of TPU, its use is very wide, can also be used in sports equipment, medical equipment, industrial parts, shoes and supplies, wire and cable and other fields.
