The fiber size of SFT composite material is short (1~3 mm). After the screw plasticizing and injection molding of the injection molding machine, the fiber length in the product will be further shortened (0.2~0.5 mm), the fiber retention length will be less than 0.3 mm, the size will be less than the critical length of the size, so SGF can not play a strengthening role.
The fibers in the LFT composite molded parts have large minimum retention scale and uniform distribution, and a three-dimensional network structure of fiber winding is formed inside the injection molded parts, which makes the fiber strengthening effect more obvious.Secondly, the stress concentration point at the end of LGF is also the initiation point of crack, which is easy to cause stress cracking, thus reducing the toughness.LFT composites have a longer minimum retention length, and the number of ends will be significantly reduced, which is the fundamental reason for their high impact strength
Comparison of mechanical properties of SFT and LFT composite granules.
In the actual design and application, LFT-PP-LGF40 composite pellets can replace SFT-PA6- -SGF30 composite pellets, and the properties basically remain the same (see Table 5).After the relative humidity is adjusted by 50%, the mechanical properties of SFT-PA6-SGF30 composites with 30% glass fiber content and LFT-PP-LGF40 composites with 40% glass fiber content are basically the same.The density of LFT-PP-LGF40 composite material is 17% lower than the density of SFT-PA6-SGF30 composite material, the corresponding product is reduced 13%, the yield is increased 21%, the cost is significantly reduced, with the following advantages: the impact strength is increased 87%, the density is reduced 20%, the molding cycle is shortened 10%, and the material cost is saved 20%~ 30%, the final total cost savings of 30% ~ 40%.
